Here at The Talent, as one of the best (if not the very best!) bands for hire in London, we’re always busy providing entertainment up and down the country at corporate events, weddings and parties. But that’s not where the fun stops! In fact, we’ve recently been asked to play at a huge corporate event in Lisbon, and a few months after that, we’ll be jetting off to Venice to provide our musical talents at a wedding! We thought that all this jet-setting deserved some celebration, so let’s take a look at some of our favourite artists from around the world.

Germany – Nena

Nena is the stage name for Gabriele Susanne Kerner who was born in Hagen, West Germany and she’s best known for her 80’s hit 99 Red Balloons (or luftballoons in German!). This is one of those songs that everybody loves and can’t help but dance to!

Australia – Sia

Sia was born in Adelaide, South Australia and she has quickly become hugely popular across the world. She’s known for being particularly shy and rarely shows her face during performances, particularly if they’re televised. We really love her huge hit, Chandelier.

Spain - Enrique Iglesias

Enrique Iglesias has got to be everyone’s favourite Spanish man. Born in Madrid, Spain, the heartthrob has captured hearts from all around the globe. He’s had plenty of great hits, but the best has got to be Hero.

Tanzania – Freddie Mercury

You might think that Freddie Mercury was British born and bred, but he was actually born and grew up in Stone Town, Tanzania. It wasn’t until the Zanzibar revolution in 1964 that Freddie came to England. His real name was actually Farrokh Bulsara! Choosing a Queen song is not an easy decision, but seeing as we can’t resist a good love song, it has to be Somebody to Love.

Sweden – Abba

The most famous Swedes have got to be Agnetha, Björn, Benny and Anni-Frid, the Stockholm based band. After winning the 1974 Eurovision Song Contest, they became one of the most successful bands of all time and their songs are still loved today – many of which we pay tribute to, particularly Dancing Queen!

South Korea – Psy

We couldn’t do a musical trip around the world without at least giving a mention to the king of K-pop – Psy. This eccentric fellow was born in, yep, you guessed it, Gangnam, South Korea. His birthplace obviously gave him plenty of inspiration to write the 2012 hit, Gangnam Style.

Russia - Regina Spektor

Regina Spektor was born in Moscow, Russia but later moved to the US with her family. Her unique sound has proved pretty popular and she’s found her way onto a few film soundtracks such as The Chronicles of Narnia and 500 Days of Summer. Our favourite song has got to be Us.

New Zealand – Lorde

Lorde is the stage name of Ella Marija Lani Yelich-O’Connor who was born in Auckland, New Zealand. The 18 year old is doing pretty well for herself after her massive song, Royals stormed the charts in 2013. These days, she’s continuing with her success and she even oversaw the production of the soundtrack for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1 which she contributed a number of songs to.

Here at The Talent, we love music from all around the world and we’re so excited to jet off and visit some other countries as a band.
